Greg Bunch
Greg Bunch received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State Fullerton’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1979. Greg is currently the Vice President of Distribution for Ovation TV, the only cable network devoted exclusively to art and art-related programming.
While earning his degree, Greg was a four-year starter on the men’s basketball team, leading the Titans to their first conference championship in 1975-76. The team that became affectionately known throughout the nation as “Cal State Who?” earned an Elite Eight berth in the 1978 NCAA Finals Tournament. It is also the first Titan team to make the NCAA Finals Tournament, where it defeated nationally ranked New Mexico and University of San Francisco before losing to Arkansas. The team finished as the top team in Titan history with a 23-9 record. Greg’s college career averages were 15.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and he shot .537 from the floor. His #30 jersey is one of only two Titan jerseys retired.
Prior to graduating, Greg was selected by the New York Knicks during the 2nd round (34th pick overall) of the 1978 NBA draft. He played for the Knicks during the 1978-79 season.
After retiring from basketball, Greg embarked on a career in telecommunications. He worked at ESPN, Inc. in affiliate sales and marketing before moving to DIRECTV, where he served as one of the lead negotiators for cable network affiliation agreements. After which, he spent more than six years managing the distribution and sales activity of NBC Cable Networks, before joining SiTV as executive director, western region.
Greg was among the inaugural group of honorees at the first Titan Tribute – Titan Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005. During his acceptance speech, Greg made a generous donation to the men’s basketball program as a “thank you” for the opportunities Cal State Fullerton provided him. In 2009, Greg was also awarded the Cal State Fullerton Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his career achievements.
In addition to being a member of the Philanthropic Foundation’s Board of Governors, Greg is a member of the Titan Athletics Club Board of Directors and a former member of the Alumni Association Board.
A resident of Upland, Greg has two daughters, Alexandra and Natalie. His daughter Alexandra is currently a student at Cal State Fullerton.
