Merilyn and Jerry Goodwin
Jerry and his wife Merilyn are enthusiastic supporters of Cal State Fullerton, especially the baseball team. For many decades, the Goodwins have been fans of Titan athletics teams and have followed the teams as they play around the country.
The couple's connection to CSUF began when a friendship developed between Jerry and CSUF President Milton A. Gordon. "I wanted to give to a program that would benefit the school and what was most needed at the time," said Jerry. In 1998, the Goodwins donated $1 million toward the $3 million-plus expansion of the baseball facilities, subsequently named Goodwin Field in their honor.
Also in 1998, the couple established the Jerry and Merilyn Goodwin Musical Theatre Scholarship. With a gift of $25,000, this scholarship provides annual awards for undergraduate studies majoring in musical theatre.
The Goodwins were named Outstanding Philanthropist Honorees in 2000 at the Orange County National Philanthropy Day Celebration for their philanthropic involvement and leadership at Cal State Fullerton.
