June and George Pollak
The library is the intellectual heart of a university. For Emerita Professor June Pollak and her husband George, it is the heart of their commitment to Cal State Fullerton. A founding faculty member, June began her career at CSUF in the English and Comparative Literature Department in 1962.
Initially, the Pollaks donated a Laguna Hills townhouse to the university. Proceeds from the sale were allocated as a charitable remainder trust to the library and other departments and programs. In 1998, the Pollaks established a further $1 million charitable remainder trust to benefit the library. The gift is the largest in the university has received from a faculty member, and it will create the library's first collection endowment. In recognition of this gift, the university named the library in their honor. "The library is closest to both our hearts," said George. "It is the core of our commitment to Cal State Fullerton."
Together, June and George have left a heartfelt gift that will benefit students for generations to come.
