Freshman Programs

Here's what students have to say about Freshman Programs!

Mario Davis

Mario DavisThroughout my time here at Cal State Fullerton, I have been actively involved both on and off campus. Some of my involvements included serving as an Orientation Leader/ Titan Ambassador for New Student Programs, a host DJ for the “Dr. Mario" show on the Titan Radio, a member of the Finance Committee, and AmeriCorps Jumpstart. Currently I serve as a member to the Board of Directors for the College of Communications within ASI, SOAR-CICC (Student Organizations Accessing Resources Communications Inter Club Council), Titan Tusk Force and the Student Academic Life Committee. I have gained valuable knowledge which has enhanced my learning abilities and this would not be possible if it were not for Freshman Programs. Freshman Programs gave me an opportunity to learn first hand what college life had to offer, it opened up doors which helped me move up the ladder, and most importantly welcomed me with open arms. The environment and benefits one gains from Freshman Programs is life changing and I would recommend this life changing program to all new incoming freshmen.

Lindsay Kwek

Linday KwekWhile in my Sociology 101 class in Freshman Programs, I was required to complete 15 hours of service learning as an assignment. At first, I wasn't sure what to participate in, so I went to the Volunteer and Service Center for help. They introduced me to a program called Corazon de Vida, in which Cal State Fullerton students go to an orphanage in Baja Mexico and play with the children for a day. While in Mexico, I got to experience another culture and social problem relating to my sociology class. Also, I am a Spanish minor, so I was given a great opportunity to practice the language. I became friends with a little girl named Michi and we played soccer and read books together all day. This service learning experience left me exhilarated knowing that I made a child's day. I have since participated in other community service projects and hope to work with Corazon de Vida again this Spring.
