ABOUT FRONT & CENTER

Established in 1996 as Cal State Fullerton’s signature community outreach and scholarship fundraising event for the university’s President’s Scholars Program ― a unique merit based scholarship program which rewards full four-year academic scholarships to local incoming freshmen students ― Front & Center has unquestionably become one of Southern California’s premier social events benefiting higher education.

Through the generous support of individuals, corporate partners and the event’s Blue Ribbon Committee volunteer organizing and planning group, Front & Center has enabled more than 400 exceptional students achieve their dream of obtaining a four-year college education.

Previous events over the years have featured a wide variety of legendary personalities and entertainers including: General Colin Powell, Michael Eisner, Walter Cronkite, Bill Cosby, Tony Bennett, Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Reeve, Natalie Cole, Kenny Loggins, The Doobie Brothers, Gladys Knight, Chicago, Stevie Nicks, Reba McEntire.

In addition to thrilling headline performances by some of the country’s top entertainers, Front & Center also features the talents of many notable Cal State Fullerton graduates who serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event such as Marc Cherry, creator and executive producer of TV’s “Desperate Housewives,” international opera star Rod Gilfry, and NHRA Funny Car champion Ashley Force Hood.

Adding further to the excitement, the Front & Center event also showcases special musical performances by student artists from the university’s award-winning College of the Arts.
