Below are some of the ways we aim at engaging students through 21st Century learning opportunities for college and career readiness and success
Our tutors are well-versed in a variety of subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and history to provide students with academic tutoring oportunities both in-class and after school.
Students receive academic advisement individually and in-group settings. Academic Coordinators and College-Aides/Student Academic Advisor develop individualized four-year academic plans to guide students toward completing university admissions requirements.
Summer programs encourage students to pursue a postsecondary education while providing them with academic content that will prepare them for the new academic year. Students extend their learning beyond the classroom by participating in activities and enrichment courses at Cal State Fullerton.
College Prep Workshops
Aimed at increasing student awareness of postsecondary education options and financing, GEAR UP provides workshops in-class and after school, during summer programs, and in combination with other events, including student and parent council meetings and assemblies.
Students are provided with the opportunity to participate in academic enrichment sessions for five consecutive Saturdays in the fall and spring semesters.
Students are informed about college entrance requirements, SAT, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and college matriculation specific to each campus.
Students are provided with various opportunities to receive academic content support and mentorship from college undergraduate and graduate students. Through their daily interaction, GEAR UP Tutors support student preparation and success.
