Cal State Fullerton is committed to graduating students who will be leaders in their professional careers and in their communities. Leadership and Multicultural Development Programs (LMDP) is currently the home of Greek Life, the Multicultural Leadership Center, the Student Leadership Institute, and the University Leadership Conference.  These programs and services provide training opportunities and out-of-classroom experiences that encourage CSUF students to assess and develop the skills recommended for effective leadership and multicultural understanding. LMDP also serves as a resource to student leaders and cultural and Greek Life organizations through advisement and training on event planning, group development, and organizational management.  For more information on any LMDP program or services, please visit the Dean of Students Office located in TSU-235.
Greek Life
Greek Life refers to the fraternity and sorority community on campus. These organizations offer fellowship, academic support, leadership training, participation in campus activities, service to the community and the University, and preparation for future careers.  Greek organizations are referred to as chapters and are named according to the ancient Greek alphabet.  Most chapters at CSUF are affiliated with a national and international organization.  CSUF currently has more than 1,000 students who have joined one of 30 fraternities, sororities, and co-ed fraternities on campus. Greek organizations provide opportunities to meet others, promote academic achievement, contribute to the community through service and philanthropy projects, and develop leadership skills.  Students interested in joining a general sorority or fraternity, or a culturally based sorority or fraternity should visit the Dean of Students Office for a list of recognized organizations.
Multicultural Leadership Center
The MLC serves the campus community through (1) diversity trainings and workshops, (2) assisting with and providing cultural programming, and (3) providing resources related to culture, leadership, and social justice. Staff and student facilitators are available for student and community workshops, in addition to the EMBRACE (Educating Myself for Better Racial Awareness & Cultural Enrichment) workshops in the Student Leadership Institute. The center provides support to the numerous cultural student organizations, programs, and departments that organize diversity programs on campus. Our collaborative events include cultural graduation celebrations, and heritage month programming. The MLC also provides training for faculty and staff to be effective allies for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community through the Safe Space program. With the MLC located in the TSU, it serves as an available meeting and dialogue space for students, faculty, and staff while also providing valuable library resources (both books and multimedia); magazines/literature on LGBT issues, race relations, higher education, and multi-racial identity; calendar of cultural events; and announcements of community events, scholarships, internships, and fellowships.
Student Leadership Institute
The Student Leadership Institute or SLI is a nationally recognized program dedicated to providing CSUF students with leadership training.  The program is comprised of a series of workshops offered throughout the semester designed to help students develop or enhance their leadership skills, learn effective communication, have meaningful interactions within a multicultural environment, and become strong leader’s on-campus, in the workplace, or in their community.  SLI also offers networking opportunities with other students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.  Students who complete SLI workshops will receive a certificate of completion and can include their participation on their resume.  Various leadership positions are available to students who are interested in practicing their leadership skills.
University Leadership Conference (ULC)
The ULC is one-day conference open to all CSUF students interested in strengthening their leadership skills.  This is an event which balances education and personal growth with fun and interactive activities for students.  Participants will hear motivational keynote speakers, and can attend educational and interactive workshops on leadership.  The conference is also a good way to meet other CSUF students, experience special events, such as an on-site community service project and networking. The conference takes place every spring semester. Leadership positions are available for students interested on serving on the conference planning committee.
