Environmental Health

An environmental health professional addresses a variety of environmental issues affecting the health of the public. Many focus on broad environmental issues that could include air quality, the quality of the water we drink, food protection, housing quality,vsolid waste management, and many others.

Individuals who work within the environmental health setting will work with chemists, engineers, public health officials, biologists, and physicians. In general, individuals pursuing this area of interest are generally employed by environmental health agencies associated with the federal government. This would include: EPA, (Environmental Protection Agency, National Center of Environment Health, Food and Drug Administration and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. Employment could also be through independent, private and non-govermental agencies.
