What is the American Family Friend Program?
It is a program to help you live in an unfamiliar culture. There are Americans living near the campus who would like
to become friends with international students like yourself. Would you like to meet people who would invite you to
their home for dinner, take you to concerts or sporting events, or go to the beach or on picnics with you? Would you
like to know someone who will help you with your problems and talk to you when you feel lonely? If the answer is yes,
just fill out the application form and submit it to the Office of International Education & Exchange in UH-244
someone will call you soon.
Who is in charge of this program?
The International Friendship Council and the Office of International Education & Exchange at CSUF manage this
program. Although the International Friendship Council assumes a great deal of responsibility for the friendship
program, that is not all it does. The council, made up of community volunteers, organizes a variety of helpful
services to international students. They provide a welcoming lunch and reception at the international student
orientation, meet buses of arriving students, provide short term home stays, give tutoring in English, and assist
internationals in many other ways.
