Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and guidance of the International Student
Advisor, assist with the following responsibilities:
1. Design and implement 6 icebreaker activities for
the weekly International
Coffee Break. Responsibilities include promoting
participation in this weekly event, facilitating
informal discussions and networking to identify
general concerns and needs of international students.
2. Coordinate and plan themes for the monthly International
Education & Exchange Open House.
3. Coordinate participation and attendance of international students
at the annual Concert under the Stars event
(held in September).
4. Assist in the planning and implementation of various events for
annual International Education Week (held
in November).
5. Develop and conduct two presentations on an intercultural topic
(theme can relate to international students'experience,
needs/concerns, or intern's own experiences/observations/recommendations).
Presentations will be performed at the IEE staff meetings.
Hours and Place of Work:
This is an unpaid, for-academic credit internship position, for
a total of 120 semester hours (not to exceed 20 hours a week during
the semester) in the Office of International Education and Exchange,
UH-244. This position is expected to begin August 15 th, 2007 and
end mid-December (a week before finals).The Intercultural Intern must
attend a training session in July. A second semester of internship
may be available.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled at CSUF
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must meet both immigration and academic requirements
to be eligible for an academic internship
- Must register in internship units as determined
by the student's major department.
Application
Applicants must submit a one-page personal statement
indicating their interest in this internship position
and how this internship will enhance their academic course
of study. A recommendation letter from an academic advisor
or professor is strongly recommended. The recommendation
letter may include a brief explanation of how the internship
position will complement the student's academic program. No prior experience
