Mathematics Institute of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences

The students will be housed at the Institute of Mathematics which is located on a quiet and serene part of Tashkent (the capital of Uzbekistan), away from the busy city center. The institute employs 50 Leading Scientific Fellows and Senior Fellows (full time researchers with Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees), as well as over 30 doctoral students conducting research in many branches of mathematics including:   Algebra and Analysis,   Partial Differential Equations,   Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics,   Applied and Computational Mathematics   and   Mathematical Physics. Many of the institute's senior researchers have teaching appointments at the National University of Uzbekistan and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. The institute has five weekly research seminars and provides a very active research environment and plenty of opportunities for interactions among researchers and visitors.

Dr. Ayupov has been the Head of the division of Algebra and Analysis since 1988 and the Director of the institute since 2004. The Algebra and Analysis division, which the U.S. students will join, has 13 senior researchers and nine doctoral students. The Institute has all the resources when it comes to IT facilities, Internet, library resources, various academic centers and language instructions which will be available for the U.S. students. In addition, the institute subscribes to MathSciNet - an online database for Mathematical Reviews of the American Mathematical Society and an essential tool for researchers in the mathematical sciences.
