Office of the Associate Vice President

January 2020

Welcome to CSUF Irvine Center for Spring Semester 2020.  We hope you had an enjoyable holiday break and are ready for a stimulating and challenging semester.

The Irvine Center is as large and diversified as ever with an expanded array of programs and supports for faculty, students and the surrounding community.  Our goal is to provide the best of a Cal State Fullerton education, including the information and services students need to be successful, in a setting that is small in scale, close to home and work, and conducive to immersive experiences and personal attention. Our presence in Irvine reflects the commitment of Cal State Fullerton to providing quality and access in the South County region, being responsive to evolving workforce needs, and serving as a center of innovation in our teaching, research and community partnerships.

The Inland Empire/Orange Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in the Banting 1 building helped to launch over 300 businesses in 2018.  Serving alongside the SBDC, the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics Incubator (Center for Entrepreneurship) benefited from over 3,000 hours of volunteer time in AY 2018-2019 to consult with over 100 businesses.  The PRactical ADvantage student-run public relations and advertising firm in IRVC 212 included the Bob Hope USO and Cox Communications among its clients last year.  Extension and International Programs in IRVC 127 served over 1,000 students in AY 18-19, offering a wide array of certificate and other programs.  The Titan After School Education and Safety (Titan ASES) program in IRVC 158 and 159 provided over 6,000 hours of support to students in 2018-2019 as it continues to serve the Tustin Unified School District.

Our fully staffed Student Success Team, located on the West side of the first floor of Banting 3, stands ready to support and serve students with academic, career and financial aid advising, as well as counseling and psychological services. ASI also stands ready with a full year of student supports and events.  Once again, we will be working to support faculty at Irvine with their equipment, space and technical needs.

Finally, last year, CSUF Irvine Center hosted for well over 100 meetings, retreats and other gatherings for a variety of local, regional and national groups. Our presence near the Irvine Spectrum Center, and a number of world class businesses and organizations, make our 3 Banting location ideal. Please keep us in mind if you are in search of a great meeting place.

Once again, welcome and thank you for making CSUF Irvine Center a success.
