Campus-Wide ID Frequently Asked Questions: Students

Q: Why do I have a new ID number?
A: As a result of heightened awareness about identify theft, the California legislature has passed several new laws requiring that universities use an assigned id number to identify students.

Q: What is the format of the new campus-wide-ID number?
A: The new campus-wide-ID number is a 9-digit number beginning with "8".

Q: Does the campus still require me to provide my social security number?
A: Yes. There are still many processes including financial aid and tax reporting that require the campus to know and store your social security number.

Q: Can I still use my old student ID number (usually SSN) to access the Student Portal and TITAN Online and telephone registration?
A: Yes. The Student Portal, TITAN Online and telephone registration will allow you to sign-on using either your old student ID number or your new campus-wide-ID number in conjunction with your PIN.

Q: How can I find out the value of my new campus-wide-ID number?
A: There are several ways to do this. After signing on to the Student Portal or TITAN Online, your new campus-wide-ID number will be displayed. We encourage you to memorize this number and begin using it right away instead of your old student ID number.

Q: Are there any other ways to learn my new campus-wide-ID number?
A: Yes. A new webpage is available at https://campusapps.fullerton.edu/CWID/index.aspx where you can supply your old student ID number and last name and you will be told your new campus-wide-ID number.

Q: Are there times when I cannot use my new campus-wide-ID number?
A: Yes. For the time being, access to telephone fee payment will continue to only accept your old student ID number.

Q: Will I need a new Titan Card?
A: No. Your Titan Card only contains a 16-digit ISO number and has never contained your Student ID number.

Q: When I take tests in my classes, sometimes I am required to supply a special form to bubble-in my answers. That form requires me to enter my student ID number. What number do I enter now that the campus is using this new ID number?
A: You should begin using your new campus-assigned campus-wide ID number on these forms although you may continue to use your previous student ID number if you cannot remember your campus-wide ID number for some period of time.

Q: Who should I contact if I have more questions about my campus-wide ID number?
A: Contact Admissions & Records at (714) 278-7601.
