
Verizon PC Card
PC Cards allow you to establish a connection to the Internet using a laptop computer when you are within the Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Area. The PC air card has an antenna and will pick up a wireless radio signal from the air much like your voice cellular phone. Verizon Wireless PC Cards are designed to work in any PC laptop computer running , Windows XP or Windows Vista that is also equipped with a PC Card slot (PCMCIA Type 2). Verizon Wireless provides software with each card, which is installed on the computer and will control all the functions of the card (activation, connecting/disconnecting, etc).
The name of the PC Card that we will use on campus is UM175 USB Modem . Here are some basic features of the UM175 USB Modem .
- Rev. A Capable: Typical download speeds of 600–1400 Kbps and upload speeds of 500–800 Kbps
- BroadbadAccess and NationalAccess compatible
- Compatible with all devices supporting the Type A USB interface including desktops, notebooks, tablet PCs and PDAs
- External Antenna Connector (External antenna sold separately)
- High performance intenna
- 32 MB RAM memory
- 64MB flash memory
