What is MISS?

California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) sponsors an exciting program called the “Mathematics Intensive Summer Session” (MISS). The purpose of this program is to assist college-bound students to enhance their mathematics skills.

For the past thirty-four years, CSUF has offered this program to middle and high school students, including many who will be the first in their family to attend college. The immediate goal of the program is to increase students’ abilities to learn and use mathematical concepts thereby supporting their achievement in high school college preparatory coursework. The long-term goal of the program is to increase the population of female students who choose careers in natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

MISS will return as a four-week commuter program which will begin on Monday, July 8, 2024 and end of Friday, August 2, 2024. Students will attend six hours of mathematics class daily, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. This enrichment program is intended to help students strengthen their foundational understanding of their next course of math.

Meals, books, materials and supplies are provided at no cost to the student. Every first-time MISS student that successfully completes the program will receive a free graphing calculator. (Student must participate in class, complete assigned work, and not exceed 1 absence.)

MISS is a supplemental Math program designed to prepare students for the next level of Math - it is not a summer school course.
