Instructional Approaches Using Authentic Materials And Resources
Asian language teachers from Orange County and Seattle school districts gathered for three days of Professional Development. Dr. James Hussar began the seminar by sharing ACTFL progress indicator benchmarks for language learners, which served as a framework for teachers to begin developing their lessons. Presenters from CSUF, UCLA, and CABE shared engaging activities using authentic materials while language teachers Thao Ly Nguyen, David Kim, and Huong Dang shared their most effective lessons for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese language learners.
