We are excited that you are interested in applying to be an Orientation Leader.  This is an exciting opportunity that allows you to help others, while developing your leadership skills.

Orientation Leaders assist with the implementation of the following orientation programs: New Student Orientation (NSO), Transfer Student Orientation (TSO), Parent and Family Orientation, Student Life Orientation (SLO), and Titan Weeks of Welcome (WOW).


  • Extensive educationally related leadership training associated with your academic degree program as well as with the learning outcomes outlined on the previous page
  • Thorough training on Cal State Fullerton programs and services
  • Networking opportunities with campus leaders including faculty, staff and administrators
  • Intensive public speaking training
  • Opportunities to develop interpersonal communication and helping skills
  • Strengthen abilities to work within a diverse team
  • Teambuilding retreat (January 2016)
  • Priority registration for Fall 2016 semester
  • 2016 orientation attire
  • $2,000 scholarship associated with the educationally related position commitments outlined above and disbursed in two installments (June 2016 and August 2016)

Required Qualifications

  • Desire to professionally serve the University community (students, parents, staff, and faculty)
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Willing to work in and lead a group
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility
  • Utilize critical thinking skills
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and willingness to learn
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for Cal State Fullerton and orientation programs
  • Serves as a responsible member of the Cal State Fullerton community 
  • Thorough knowledge of Cal State Fullerton’s programs and services (training will be provided)
  • Willingness to conduct a 1 hour tour of the campus and a 15-minute presentation related to course registration and campus resources (training will be provided for both)
  • Must have completed at least one semester at Cal State Fullerton by the end of the Fall 2015 semester
  • Be a matriculating student CSUF student in an academic degree program and maintain a minimum cumulative Cal State Fullerton grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or greater at the time of application
  • Must maintain a cumulative and term GPA of 2.5 or greater during both the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters
