Transfer Student Orientation
Do I need to attend orientation?
Orientation is mandatory and can be done either online through the Online Transfer Overview (OTO) or in-person at the Transfer Orientation.
Can I complete both online and in-person orientation sessions?
Yes, we highly recommend that transfer students do both.
What if I cancel and decide to do Online Transfer Overview instead?
While this may satisfy your orientation requirement before registering for class, you will not be refunded any fees you have initially paid to attend in-person orientation. All orientation fees are non-refundable.
What should I bring to orientation?
Please make sure you have everything on the What to Bring list.
What should I expect if attending orientation in-person?
Transfer Orientation is a full day program, which integrates academic requirements, social standards, and connection with the CSUF community. You can expect to meet other new transfer students, speak with academic advisors and learn more about the benefits of being Titan.
What should I expect if completing orientation online?
The Online Transfer Overview (OTO) is a web-based orientation program that will provide you with important information you need to know to help ease your transition to Cal State Fullerton. OTO provides an overview of general education advisement, as well as contact information for your academic college and major advisement. Through OTO, you will also receive an introduction to student support services and resources like the Titan Degree Audit(TDA), the University Catalog and the Titan Portal.
Can I bring a guest with me?
Students attending Transfer Orientation are not allowed to bring guests with them.
Is there an orientation program for family members or guests?
There are no guest orientation programs available for Transfer Orientation.
Is orientation mandatory?
Yes, orientation is mandatory and finalizes your intent to register for classes and attend Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming fall semester. As a transfer student, you can attend either Transfer Orientation or complete Online Transfer Overview.
Is there a cost to attend orientation?
It costs $60 per student to attend Transfer Orientation, and this must be paid in order to confirm your orientation date. There is no cost to complete your orientation requirement through the Online Transfer Overview
Where can I get updates/additional information about orientation?
Outreach, Recruitment & Orientation releases all important updates via the students CSUF email address.
I will have to leave early/arrive late for my orientation session. What do I do?
You must register for an orientation session that you are able to attend for the entire time or complete Online Transfer Overview . Orientation is a mandatory requirement in order to schedule classes and begin as a student for the upcoming semester.
Do I need to register to attend orientation?
Yes, you need to register in order to secure a spot for orientation no later than the specified deadline.
Can I do my orientation requirement online instead of attending orientation in person?
Yes, you are able to complete the Online Transfer Overview for your orientation requirement. However, we highly encourage for you to still attend the in-person orientation as no academic advising will be provided during this online orientation session. If you are in need of that assistance, you must seek out an academic advisor.
