Status
of Prop. 47 Projects
In November 2002, voters statewide supported additional investment
in our state’s educational infrastructure. Proposition 47,
a statewide bond measure, provided $13 billion for educational
facilities. In Orange County voters approved Proposition 47, providing
$500 million to our K-12 schools, colleges and universities. Thank
you for your support.
Here is an update on Proposition 47’s impact here at Cal
State Fullerton:

Fire and Life Safety Projects
The schematic and preliminary design phases of this
project have been completed. The construction of the
project is on schedule to be completed in late 2005.
Since the project has many discrete subsets to it, from
fire alarms to fire hydrants to signage and keying,
each piece of the project will be completed as soon
as it is practical to do so. This project will be a
great benefit to protecting the university’s students,
faculty and staff. |

Telecommunications Infrastructure
Plans for this project are almost completed. This project
provides suitable spaces and pathways for telecommunications
wiring and data switches that simply did not exist when
the majority of Fullerton's buildings were designed.
Whereas 1960's era "telephone closets" required
very little space and almost no environmental control,
modern data communications equipment requires stable
temperatures and air flow. "Category 6" wiring
will be placed to every classroom, office, and lab to
support higher data speeds, and additional fiber optic
cabling will be installed to allow network speeds to
be boosted to the multi-gigabit range campuswide. Once
this infrastructure upgrade is completed, the data network
will be updated through a separate project to the latest
products which support the higher bandwidth needs of
interactive instruction. |

Kinesiology and Health Sciences
Building Equipment (formerly Physical Education)
This wonderful new facility was completed this past
summer, and was equipped and available for teaching
when classes began in August 2003. Students are already
benefiting from the building and from the new equipment
in classrooms, laboratories, and activity spaces. |
