It's Your World...Change It CSUF!

The Volunteer & Service Center (VSC) at California State University, Fullerton is committed to promoting volunteerism, community service, civic engagement and social justice.  Participation in VSC programming enables students to develop as contributing members of the community, instilling a sense of social and civic responsibility. The Volunteer & Service Center sponsors a wide range of community service projects, currently focusing on the areas of hunger and homelessness, environmentalism, youth mentoring and civic engagement.  Students serve as Project Directors charged with developing, implementing and evaluating Center activities, an excellent opportunity for students to not only serve their community, but to develop as leaders. Students interested in volunteering or becoming community service leaders are encouraged to visit the Center.

An exciting new project that began last year is Resources to Engage in Advocating for Civic Transformation, Students ACT, which organizes films, speakers and community dialogues to educate students about the importance of ensuring their voices are heard socially and politically through active civic engagement.  Students ACT culminates in the Annual Social Justice Student Summit where workshops on topics such as civil rights, environmentalism, women’s and labor movements, environmental causes, grassroots organizing, community development and activism move students to be proactive in addressing social and political causes.

The Volunteer & Service Center also connects students with non-profit agencies for internships or service-learning opportunities.  Visitors will find a number of resources at their disposal, from the “Volunteer Opportunities” posting board, to the many brochures, resource binders, as well as detailed fact sheets helping students find a volunteer match to fit their major or interests.  These resources are also available for faculty and staff who want to engage in community service.  In addition, the Volunteer & Service Center website offers a great deal of information and resources at www.fullerton.edu/deanofstudents/volunteer.  Students, faculty and staff are all encouraged to stop in anytime at the Volunteer & Service Center located on the lower level of the Titan Student Union, TSU-002 to learn about how you can help those who are in need, and by doing so, help change the world.
