Why Do Students Choose CSU Fullerton? An Analysis of Responses
to the Intent to Register Survey.
Abstract. Why do students choose CSU Fullerton over
other institutions? In a mail survey, 2073 prospective students
(of 5983) rated 5 factors on Likert-type scales. The most important
factor in influencing choice of college across all students
was "Availability of My Major," followed by
"Reputation of My Major." Students indicating
their intent to attend CSUF differed from those intending to
register elsewhere on four of the five factors, with the largest
differences on "Cost of Attendance" and "Distance
from Home." Research
