CALL TO ORDER
Chair Guerin called the meeting to order
at 12:05 p.m. and welcomed the newly elected Senators to their first Academic Senate meeting. Senator
Randall called roll.
II.
URGENT BUSINESS
2.1 After Senator Dabirian explained the process for using electronic
transponders, it was M/S/P [Bedell/Stang] to use them for voting at this electoral meeting.

ADJOURNMENT
Chair Guerin
invited newly elected Chair Hewitt to the podium to adjourn the meeting. Chair
Hewitt assumed the gavel and thanked everyone for their support and confidence
in him. He thanked his mentor, John Olmstead who encouraged him to become
involved in the Academic Senate and Ellen Junn who encouraged him to run for leadership
positions in the Academic Senate. Chair Hewitt thanked Diana Guerin, Jack
Bedell, Lee Gilbert, Sandra Sutphen, and Jane Hall, previous chairs that he has
worked with and will serve as his role models. He added that he has been
influenced by Academic Senate stalwarts Lee Bellot, Keith Boyum, Vince Buck,
Barry Pasternack, David Fromson and many others. Chair Hewitt thanked the past
and present Senate Executive Committees, including the CSU Senators for their
contributions. He invited all to send him any topics they feel the committee
should consider for the fall semester.
