Chair Guerin called the meeting to order at 11:32
a.m.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Gordon
congratulated ASI on the candlelight vigil it held in our Memorial Grove for
the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. Approximately 400 people attended.
Senator Nanjundappa
reminded the body that new contract ratification will take place May 1-3, 2007
from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the CFA Fullerton Chapter office.
Chair Guerin reminded
the body that the All-University Elections will be held May 7-10, 2007 and that
all candidate statements and photos are due to the Academic Senate office by
tomorrow, Friday, April 27, 2007.
Senator Buck invited all
to attend Dr. Jim Young’s presentation on the history of the Theatre Department
at 4:00 p.m. in the Young Theatre this afternoon.
Senator Dabirian demonstrated
electronic transponders. As a test, they were used to approve the minutes of
3-1-07 and 4-5-07. At the next Senate meeting, the senators will vote on using
the transponders for the electoral meeting.
