Minutes of October 28 and November 11, 2004 were approved as amended.

04-174 Fall 2004 New Course Proposals—General Education
Senator Pasternack requested
spelling of words in the course description for GEOL 110T be corrected and
accepted as friendly edits.
B. ASD
04-154 Revised UPS 100.010 Faculty Handbook
It was m/s/p [Gilbert/Jones] to approve
document ASD 04-154.
C. ASD 04-155 Revised UPS 211.000 Responsibilities of Departments and
Department Chairs
It was m/s [Nanjundappa/Burgtorf] to approve
document ASD 04-155.
Senator
Emery suggested an editorial correction on page 3, line 10 changing “he” to “he/she.”
Senator Gilbert suggested a grammar
correction on page 1, line 27 deleting the “s” from the word “units” and
accepted as friendly edits.
Motion passed to approve ASD 04-155 as amended.
D. ASD
04-149 Revised UPS 291.000 Distinguished Faculty Member Guidelines
It was m/s/p [Pasternack/Nanjundappa] to
approve document ASD 04-149.
It was m/s [Nanjundappa/Guerin] to approve
document ASD 04-150. It was moved
[Pasternack] and accepted as a friendly amendment to correct the word
“lay-off” on page 1 in line 17, 23, 38
on page 2 line 13 changing it to “lay off” and on line 39 change the word
“school” to “college.”
Motion passed to approve ASD 04-150 as amended.
F. ASD
04-151 Revised UPS 210.005 Layoff Policy and Procedures for Library Faculty
It was m/s [Nanjundappa/Emry] to approve
document ASD 04-151.
Senator
Cox suggested an editorial change and accepted as a friendly amendment on page
2, #7 lines 11, 12 and 21 to read “Council of University Library Faculty.”
Motion passed to approve ASD 04-151 as amended.
G. ASD 04-152 Revised UPS 412.010 Honors Program
It was m/s
[Burgtorf/Nanjundappa] to approve document ASD 04-152. Senator Guerin suggested an editorial change
on page 1, line 18 changing the word “While” to “Although.” Senator Gass suggested an editorial
correction on page 5, line 39 changing the word “their” to “his/her.” Editorial changes were accepted as friendly
edits.
Motion passed to approve ASD 04-152 as amended.
H. ASD
04-172 Revised UPS 410.113 Guidelines for the Structure of Joint Degree
Students
It was m/s [Junn/Alva] to approve document ASD 04-172.
It was m [Pasternack] and accepted as friendly
amendment on page 2, line 7 delete the “s” on the word “dean” and page 3,
line 40 change the word “quality” to “appropriate.”
It was m/s [Pasternack/Meyer] on page 1, line 32, C, “The JDP shall
not require more than fifty percent of its courses from any one department
participating in the JDP.” to read “Although more than fifty percent of its
courses may come from one department, this shall not be a requirement of the
JDP.”
Motion passed to approve the Pasternack amendment.
Motion passed to approve document ASD 04-172 as amended.
