The Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) is the organization responsible for the health care of the students on campus. The SHCC is fully accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care.
The mission of the Student Health and Counseling Center is to improve and support the overall health and wellness of all CSUF students.
The Student Health and Counseling Center will further it’s mission through the following goals:
The SHCC practices high quality medical care, guided by the following values:
Education: We believe that learning is preeminent and in support of this belief, we value the education of both our patients and our staff.
Quality, Dedication, Compassion: We believe that our students deserve and should receive high-quality services and products form the SHCC. We believe in providing this service in a manner that reflects our dedication, compassion, and caring toward our students.
Ethics: We believe in honesty and integrity in our relationships with our patients and each other. We acknowledge and uphold the confidentiality of our patients.
Respect and Diversity: We value the diversity of our students and our staff, and encourage self-development and wellness. We respect the rights of individuals and value the contributions each person brings to a team effort.
Teamwork: We believe in teamwork, active collaboration, and clear, open communication among students, staff, and faculty.
We encourage CSUF students to play an active role in maintaining good health. Students are encouraged to engage in conversations with their health care providers about treatment options and alternatives, effective prevention techniques and strategies, and appropriate testing, results and medications. Students are encouraged to be a partner in their health and health care, therefore, communication with medical staff is essential.
