Presentations

The Health Education and Promotion department offers presentations on a variety of health topics pertinent to college students. To schedule a presentation in your class or with a student club or organization, please contact the Health Education and Promotion department at (657) 278-7223.

1. Nutrition Basics

College students are always on the go, and eating healthy is sometimes the last priority on their lists. This presentation will educate about the basic components of a healthy diet, caloric needs of the average college student, and helpful tips for choosing healthier options when eating out or on the run.

2. Alcohol Awareness

Is there such a thing as Responsible Drinking? Sure there is! Learn the warning signs of problem drinking, symptoms of alcohol poisoning and the differences in effects of alcohol on males and females.

3. Sexual Responsibility

Discussing the importance of sexual responsibility may be difficult for some individuals; however, this presentation offers an educational perspective of Sexually Transmitted Diseases or Infections, prevention and abstinence. With a little bit of humor and a lot of information, this presentation makes for an educational and socially relevant experience.

4. General Health and Wellness

Great health means taking care of every aspect in your life including your relationships, your extra curricular activities, your workload, your nutrition and the stressors that are present. This workshop will emphasize the relationship between the physiological, mental and social aspects in your life.

5. Stress Management

In this presentation, you will learn about what stress is, what it can do to you if it is left unchecked, and how you can manage it more effectively in your everyday life. You will learn more about the everyday causes that may trigger stress in your life, coping with these stressors and the different resources that are available, on campus, to help with stress management.
