Services

PERSONAL COUNSELING: CAPS offers free and confidential brief counseling, assessment
and referral, and crisis intervention designed to assist currently enrolled Cal State Fullerton
students with personal or psychological problems which interfere with their educational
progress. Students seek counseling for depression, anxiety, stress symptoms, as well as
relationship, family or situational problems. The counselors at CAPS are Licensed Psychologists
or Marriage and Family Therapists. Although there is considerable demand for counseling
services, we try to meet with each student as soon as possible after their initial contact
with the center. In case of emergency, students are seen without delay. Several on-going
therapy groups are also offered to help students cope with stresses or issues affecting
them.
WORKSHOPS: A wide variety of workshops is also offered, focusing on issues
such as transition and change, anxiety, relationships, depression, stress management, substance
abuse, eating disorders, self-esteem and creativity.
CRISIS INTERVENTION: Crisis intervention are available
during office hours (8-5, M-F) to help with immediate problems in
instances involving issues of pressing concern.
CONSULTATION AND OUTREACH: CAPS staff members are also available upon
request for consultation and presentations to classes, university departments, student organizations
and to assist special populations and students with specific needs;
Several types of consultation services are offered to faculty,
staff, administration, and student groups. In collaboration with
academic departments and student services offices, outreach programs
are developed.
