  Disadvantages of Non-CSUF Programs

It is important that you are aware that there are disadvantages to doing a Non-CSUF program. You will need to be more independent as it is your responsibility to thoroughly investigate programs and verify their quality.

Additionally:
  1. You may have to pay the entire program fee up to several months prior to departure and you will not have access to financial aid until the term you go abroad. Financial aid is disbursed the term you go abroad and that cannot be modified. You will need to find a way to pay the program fee up front. The Study Abroad Office makes arrangements for Cal State Fullerton programs so that the student does not have to pay prior to departure but will be billed through their student account the term they go abroad, and then the financial aid is disbursed into the same account to pay the fee.

  2.
  3. Transfer credit is given for Non-CSUF Programs. There is a limit to the amount of transfer credit you can earn and still graduate with a degree from Cal State Fullerton. Be sure to talk with your academic adviser about this guideline. Also, read more about Transfer Credit to see how it will show up on your transcript and what that means for your GPA.

  4.
  5. Minimal services are provided to Outside students. The Study Abroad Office generally only advises on the administrative process for Non-CSUF Programs as we have no knowledge of the program itself.
