Travel resources are the key to traveling around the world successfully. With the right sources you can go just about anywhere for a price that suits your budget. The following sources are available to students to use to find cheap flights, railway passes, buses etc. Also, don’t forget to buy an International Student Exchange Card, it allows for discounts on most travel, museums etc.
STA Travel:
A big favorite among students for great discounts on airfare, hostels, rail
passes hotels and tours. A definite resource for the study abroad student on
a budget!
Student Universe:
This site is specifically geared towards students looking to travel abroad,
handling hotels, cars, railways and flights. Great discounts are available for
almost any destination.
Cheap Tickets:
A trusted website offering decent prices on flights, cruises, cars, rail, and
hotels. A great resource for students.
Rail Europe:
For travel across Europe, this is a must have. This pass travels the span of
Europe and Scandinavia, a great deal for traveling long distances and deals for
in-country travel as well. Youth passes available for discounts
(under 26 years).
EuRail:
Another great rail pass covering Europe and Scandinavia. Many different
options are available for rail travel within one country or many. Check to see
deals for long term train travel within your country. Youth passes are also
available (under 26 years).
Japan Rail Travel:
This is a discounted rail pass to travel throughout Japan for a certain amount
of time. Also check for other rail passes for longer terms of travel at a train
station within the country.
Bahncard:
For German students this is a MUST! Students 25 and under can get the Bahncard 50, which deducts 50% of all rail travel within Germany, and reduced
within surrounding countries if the ticket is booked within Germany. It soon
pays for itself and becomes handy when buying the state rail passes.
