College of Communications

Photo: Journalist on campus The College of Communications is committed to advancing society by preparing students for a wide variety of communication professions. Programs include Communications (with a concentration in Advertising, Broadcast Journalism and Journalism, Entertainment Studies, Photocommunications and Public Relations), Communicative Disorders, Communication Theory in Process and Radio-TV Film.

Gifts to the College help fund scholarships, research programs, technology needs, the Dean's Endowment, capital improvements and our centers for study, research and development. These centers include:

In addition to the above, the College of Communications is working to raise funds for our new Digital Multi-Media Center. This new state-of-the-art center includes a broadcast journalism studio, a television production studio, a sound stage and equipment check out rooms. Funds purchase state-of-the-art production and post-production equipment and allow students access to multiple audio and video formats for recording, editing, mixing and storage, in addition to providing portable, multi-functioning equipment for out-of-studio productions.

Through the generosity of alumni and friends of the College, we are able to secure funding for students and faculty. All funds help alleviate rising costs of education and state-wide budgetary cuts. Money is raised through gifts made by alumni and friends of the College, corporations and foundations, through direct mail campaigns, Phonathons and sponsorships.
