 “Even though I had the grades, I never saw myself
going to college. My family didn’t think there was any
way they could afford it. Scholarships and financial aid made
my education possible. The encouragement that I received from
on-campus mentoring programs gave me the incentive to continue
my studies and the confidence that I could succeed. I am the
