Our Progress

Today, Cal State Fullerton benefits from rich diversity that reflects the world around us.

We celebrate our distinction of being fifth in the nation for the number of baccalaureate degrees awarded to underrepresented students, and first in California for the number of bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanics.

We also celebrate our vibrant LGBTQ community as well as our nearly 2,500 students from outside the United States who call Cal State Fullerton home as they pursue a degree.

True to our core values, we are home, too, to many first-generation college students. Among bachelor's degree recipients, 56% are the first in their family to graduate from a four-year institution.

But beyond these noteworthy facts and figures is the pride we can feel as Titans in the value that our diversity has in the educational experience. By learning from differing backgrounds and perspectives, our graduates are strengthened, inspired and ready to excel in the workforce, in further education and as emergent leaders in their communities.

The journey to support our diversity is not, however, over. We have more work to do to ensure that our spirit of inclusivity is felt by all. Every member of the Titan community must feel honored, respected and embraced.

This website — and each of us in our work every day — seeks to capitalize on our progress so far. We must foster ongoing dialogue about and action in support of inclusion. We must listen to both voices of protest and the silence of fear -- or worse, complacency. This is our challenge. But Titans are up to it, and our ethos of "reaching higher" demands it.
