Computer Types | Printing | Hours | Location | F.A.Q. | Lab Policy

The following are the most Frequently Asked Questions:

Why don't the lab computers have the 'g' drive or other drives like the business lab computers?
ULC computers exist in a separate domain from the business computers.

Why can't we download files from the Web?
Previously computers were allowed to download, but that caused problems when users took advantage of the computers. Users would install illegal software and some of these software programs caused the system to lose performance or crash. In addition, large quantities of adult material were found in the computers' hard drives. It is highly recommend that students bring all their files in diskettes or zip disks.

Why doesn't the lab stay open until 10 p.m. like other labs?
Our budget forces us to limit the time we are open.

If I forgot or lost my ID card can I still use the computer lab and print?
YES, when checking into the lab you'll need to type in your ID number (social security number) at the front desk. For printing you can also type in your ID number rather than swiping your card as long as you have enough funds.

Does the front desk person see our ID number each time type it?
NO, as you type your ID number all that is displayed on the reception desk computer is *********.

Can I bring my own paper to print on?
YES, but you'll still be charged the same for printing.

Do the computers have CD burners?
NO, none of the lab computers have CD burners.

How would I request for certain software to be installed?
By asking your department to give us licensing approval to install these software programs onto the lab computers.
