Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Issues

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual IssuesWho we choose to fall in love with, spend our time with, be sexual with or share intimacies with; who we choose to commit to over a lifetime involves some very complex interactions between who we are and our environment. “Sexual preference” (i.e., gay/lesbian/bisexual) is a product of many of these interactions. Our sexual preference is not so much a choice as it is a product of our birth and out interaction with our environment.

"What causes homosexuality?"

when we ask, "What Causes homosexuality?" we infer that somehow being or lesbian is wrong, different, or abnormal. The right question to pursue is "How do we come by our sexual preference?" Some of the views on the origins of sexual preference range from a psychoanalytic view (dominant mom, submissive dad), learned behavior, prenatal hormones, brain chemicals. genetic, social impact, etc. Over and over it appears to be that what makes up our sexual preferences in life is interactional - that is, many components come together to make us aware of our sexual preferences.
