Schools and Colleges) Outside Reviewers
Visit for Re-Accreditation
March 10-12, 2010
Q: Why should I care about this?
A: Re-accreditation provides an opportunity for the campus community to examine ourselves and make adjustments/improvements. (Our Self-Review under the Standards is available at
www.fullerton.edu/wasc in Appendix 9 of the Institutional Proposal). On a more pragmatic level, accreditation by WASC is necessary for our
- Students to be eligible for financial aid
- Campus to be eligible for federal grants
- CSUF credits to be transferrable
- CSUF degrees to be recognized
Accreditation confers credibility and accountability to our campus constituents and maintains the integrity of your degree.
Q: What am I supposed to do during the visit?
A: The Visiting Team may request to meet with specific departments, classes, student organizations, committees, or other groups. Student organizations may be asked to provide specific information or documents; if so, provide the information requested. You may also choose to be involved by attending the open forum for students or the campus presentation given by the visiting team on Friday. You can also provide confidential input to the Visiting Team via email:
Wasc2csuf@yahoo.com.
Q: What kinds of questions might the visiting team ask me?
A:
- How would you assess the quality of the education you are receiving?
- How would you characterize the morale on campus as it relates to the economic downturn in the state and nation?
- What would you identify as strengths of the University, and conversely what would you identify as areas of concern?
- How have students participated in the WASC re-accreditation process?
Q: What are the three campus themes for the re-accreditation process?
A:
- Campus-Wide Planning
- Student Learning and Its Assessment
- Promoting Student Engagement and Success.
Q: If I want more information, where can I find it?
A: The campus WASC website at
