Activities of Academic Year 2007-08 in Review

A  great deal of progress was made in preparing the campus for WASC reaccreditation.

  • Our Proposal was completed and mailed to WASC on October 15, 2007.
  • The conference call with WASC to discuss the Proposal occurred on December 12, 2007.
  • WASC accepted our Proposal in a letter dated December 18, 2007.
  • On February 13, 2008, the WASC Steering Committee hosted an all-campus reception to celebrate the acceptance of our “exemplary” Proposal .

The Steering Committee spent the first half of spring semester defining the task force charges for the ten task forces that were to begin their work immediately.  Based on the possible contacts and resources cited in the Proposal and with advice from various campus constituencies, we developed recommendations to the President for membership of the ten spring-start task forces.  Letters of appointment went out on March 28, 2008.  Steering Committee members, who serve as liaisons to the task forces, convened the kick-off meetings in May.  Regular meetings of each task force will begin in the fall.

What will the Task Forces Be Doing?

The chart (opens in a separate window below) illustrates the broad activities of each of the task forces.  The duration of these activities varies.  However, all of them will culminate in reports prepared for the capacity review in spring 2010 and for the educational effectiveness review in fall 2011.

Engaging the Campus Next Year

The WASC Steering Committee continues to be grateful for your participation.  The process of WASC reaccreditation to date would not have been nearly as successful without your help.  We will continue to depend on your participation as the task forces begin their all-campus outreach in the fall.
