International Travel Insurance Requirement
President Milton A. Gordon and PAB have agreed to implement the following requirements concerning international travel. These requirements will facilitate the creation of a data base that will provide University and CSU administrators with access in the event of an emergency to information concerning the location of University faculty, staff and students traveling abroad.
- Foreign travel liability insurance is now required for all University and auxiliary sponsored international travel.
The CSU's Foreign Travel Liability Insurance Program is designed to provide financial protection for the University and its auxiliaries for claims arising from sponsored international travel. This insurance also provides travelers with coverage for emergency medical expenses (up to $25,000 in excess coverage with a $250 deductible); medical evacuation (up to $100,000 in excess coverage); accidental death and dismemberment (up to $100,000 in excess coverage); repatriation (up to $25,000 in excess coverage); and travel assistance services.
- Foreign travel liability insurance premiums for all University sponsored international travel will be paid as an all-University expense.
- Academic departments and administrative units are no longer required to pay for the premiums for this insurance on any University-sponsored trip. The premiums will be paid as a University-wide expense. Individuals traveling internationally on a trip or program sponsored by a campus auxiliary or Extended Education may be responsible for paying the insurance premiums.
-
Individual health insurance is now required for any individual traveling as part of a University or Extended Education program who is not a University employee or volunteer.
-
Individual health insurance may be required for any individual traveling as part of an ASC or ASI program who is not either an auxiliary employee or volunteer.
-
On trips where individual health insurance is required, students who do not have individual health insurance must purchase health insurance with benefits at least as extensive as health insurance offered through the CSU.
