Financial Aid is only available for experiences awarding credit ("study abroad"). Generally, work, intern, and volunteer opportunities do not grant academic credit and cannot be funded by financial aid. If you plan on using financial aid, be sure to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible—at least six months before your program starts. FAFSA packets are available at the Office of Financial Aid, UH-177, or on the FAFSA website.
There is no fee to apply for financial aid, so it is ideal to apply for aid even before you have applied to your program. The earlier you apply, the earlier you can find out your award and plan a budget.
