21% of our student community at Cal State Fullerton is in danger from food and/or housing insecurities. At the Gastronome, our team is doing our part by allowing residents to donate one or more of their guest meals, part of their residential meal plans, to help their fellow Titans in need.
Additionally, the Aramark Higher Education team that runs the Gastronome will match every meal donated. This program, run through the Dean of Students Office, gives us the potential to improve the lives of every student at Cal State Fullerton.
After our students donate a guest meal, they fill out a Tuffy Tag with a quote or inspiring words for their peers to be displayed at the Gastronome's front desk. The success of this program for the last two semesters, where in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 we had a total of 570 meal donations which Aramark matched - allowed us to reach a total of 1,140 meals available for students in need.
Housing and Residential Engagement and the Gastronome have decided to extend the donation program into the Fall 2017 Semester. We are so happy to be able to bring this program back for a third time for our students!
Residents are able to donate one of more of their meals for their fellow Titans this semester.
Like last semester, the Aramark Higher Education team will match every deal donated to the program.
