2017 Vietnamese Language Roundtable

The National Resource Center for Asian Languages co-hosted the 3rd National Vietnamese Language Roundtable with Westminster School District and the California Association for Bilingual Education in 2017 at DeMille Elementary School on March 29, 2017. The theme of the Roundtable focused on the roles of parents, community, and educators in supporting Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion programs. Participants included teachers, school leaders, institutions of higher education, community heritage language schools, business councils, and community-based organizations working with Vietnamese k-12 education programs. The day started with a warm welcome by Dr. Natalie Tran, Dr. Renae Bryant, and Ms. Shannon Villanueva, visitation of DeMille's Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion classrooms, followed by a Roundtable discussion with parents, community partners, teachers, and district leaders. Guests also enjoyed special performances by DeMille's kindergarten and first-grade Vietnamese dual language immersion students.
