Advising

 

Advising is an integral part of your undergraduate education. The college strives to provide guidance and help you achieve your academic goals. You will have multiple advisors that will assist you along the way.

Major Advising

 

Once admitted, see your MAJOR advisor every semester before you register — PLAN, STRATEGIZE, SUCCEED!

Most NSM Majors will have mandatory major advising every semester connected to a registration hold placed on your account that will prevent you from registering for the following semester (fall and spring). Details are emailed to students in October and March each year. Please check your CSUF email for more information and visit department pages below:

 We are here to help students understand the steps to take to earn their degrees. The requirements may seem daunting at first, but with guidance and advisement students can meet graduation requirements.

  • New Freshmen will automatically receive their mandatory advisement by participating in New Student Orientation.
  • Transfer students are strongly encouraged to seek GE & Major advising prior to registration — the best way to launch your CSUF career is to participate in person in Transfer Orientation! You get to meet your MAJOR advisor and have your community college coursework reviewed — it’s the best investment you can make to ensure academic success and timely graduation.
  • Meet with your NSM Student Success Team for any General Education advising questions or graduation plans and registration support.
  • Seek out other offices and programs on campus that provide specific advising or information that will enhance your Titan Experience.   Health Professions AdvisingOpens in new window   Office offers specialized support and workshops; while the NSM Student Success Team can tap advising and resources that help manage a rigorous schedule and academic performance and provides workshops throughout the semester.

TITAN Degree Audit 


The   TITAN Degree Audit (TDA)Opens in new window   is an important advising tool and resource for students at CSUF. The TDA report includes your general education and major requirements as well as other unit and scholastic requirements. To obtain your TDA, go to TITAN Online through your Student Portal and select Student Academics or visit TITAN Degree Audit for additional information.
