Incident Reporting

If you experience or become aware of any suspicious activity, potential threats, or security issues involving CSUF systems, data, or individuals, please contact the IT Helpdesk  immediately. Timely reporting helps us investigate, contain, and resolve incidents before they escalate.

 

Types of Incidents to Report

• Threat to Person: 
  Includes cyberstalking, cyberbullying, online harassment, or any digital behavior that threatens the safety or well-being of a CSUF student, faculty, or staff member.
  
  
• System Vulnerability: 
  If you discover a flaw, weakness, or misconfiguration in a CSUF system, application, or network that could be exploited by attackers, report it immediately.
  
  
• Lost Device:
  Report any lost or stolen device, whether university-issued or personal that contains CSUF data or has access to university systems.
  
  
• Data Exposure:
  If you find sensitive or confidential CSUF data (e.g., student records, financial information, research data) stored on an unsecured server, shared publicly, or accessed without authorization.
  
  
• Website Defacement: 
  If a CSUF website has been altered, vandalized, or compromised in any way that affects its integrity or appearance.
  
  
• Phishing Email: 
  If you receive a suspicious email that attempts to trick you into revealing personal information, clicking malicious links, or downloading harmful attachments.
  
  
• DMCA Violation: 
  Report any copyright infringement involving CSUF-hosted websites or systems, including unauthorized sharing of copyrighted materials.
  
  
• Any Other Security Issue: 
  If you notice anything unusual, suspicious, or concerning that may affect the security of CSUF’s digital environment. Even if you're unsure, please report it.
