Muriel Joyce has an extensive background as a professional dancer and as a dance educator. Born in Belgium, Mrs. Joyce studied at Mudra (Brussels) under the direction of the renowned choreographer Maurice Béjart. Mrs. Joyce began her professional ballet career with the National Bavarian Ballet (Bayerisches Staatsballett) in Munich, Germany. Throughout her professional career she had the opportunity to perform the works of seminal choreographers of both classical and contemporary ballet. Her repertoire includes ballets choreographed by Marius Petipa, August Bournonville, Fokine, Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, John Cranko, George Balanchine, Peter Wright, John Neumeier and Uwe Scholz just to name a few. During her career, she performed in Europe, Asia, Middle East and in the United States.

After moving to California, she danced with the Los Angeles Classical Ballet and started to steer her professional career towards teaching. She began her teaching career at Huntington Academy of Dance and Saint Joseph Ballet (currently The Wooden Floor). At the same time, Mrs. Joyce was also the artistic director and co-founder of Ballet Etudes, a non-profit youth ballet company in Huntington Beach. Additionally, Mrs. Joyce taught and later directed the Classical/Contemporary Dance Department at the Orange County School of the Arts.

Mrs. Joyce holds her BA in dance from the University of California, Irvine. She joined CSUF, Department of Theatre and Dance, in 2006.
