Established in 1972, the California Music Academy at California State University, Fullerton was founded by CSUF Professor Emeritus Benton Minor. The purpose at that time was to provide a low-cost opportunity for Southern California High School students to learn about music in a summer setting that would enrich their lives and help them contribute to their school programs. CMA grew and expanded its scope since its first year and has provided a wide-range of courses and activities that are often not part of the public school curriculum.
