Praised by critics for her “mastery of the instrument” with “great warmth and beauty” (The Strad), cellist Bongshin Ko has appeared worldwide at music festivals including Schleswig-Holstein, Rostropovich & Friends, Fundacio Barcelona, American Cello Congress, Summit New York and Seoul International. As a recipient of over 30 international prizes and awards including the highest performance award in her native Korea at age 17, and the Crossroad Award in the US for her “superior teaching” in 1995, her solo engagements have reached Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, Croatia, Russia, Poland, and most major cities in the US and Asia. She is also on faculty at Kronberg Academy’s E. Feuerman Conservatory in Germany, and receives invitations on popular demand from music festivals around the world. As a director of the university’s annual CelloFest and Cello Choir, Ms. Ko is cello professor and serves as Vice Chair of the department.
