Alvin Brightbill

Alvin BrightbillAlvin Brightbill
Instructor in Music

Alvin Brightbill, tenor, holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Chapman University and a M.F.A. in voice and conducting from California Institute of the Arts. He has sung throughout the West Coast, and appeared at festivals from Carmel to Oregon and Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo. A favorite of audiences, he's performed with the Portland, Long Beach, and the Guild and Euterpe opera companies, and has been seen with orchestras including Santa Fe (NM), Long Beach and Bakersfield. He has soloed with Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling, Sir David Wilcocks, and recently appeared with Dave Brubeck and his quartet in Brubreck's oratorio Gates of Justice singing the role of the Cantor. Brightbill can be heard in recordings with the Roger Wagner Chorale and provided the operatic voice for Rodney Dangerfield in his last film The 4th Tenor. Former Saddleback College Music Department chairman and director of Choral/Vocal Studies for 30 years, now retired he teaches voice at Cal State Fullerton and Concordia University, Irvine.
