Eric Dries holds a Ph.D. in composition from the University of California, San Diego where his works were performed by members of SONOR, the resident new music ensemble. While at there, Dries studied and worked with Rand Steiger, Brian Ferneyhough, George Lewis and Will Ogdon. He also holds a M.A. in theory with research in Schoenberg's theory of the chromatic scale as a basis for tonality. His B.A. degree in composition was completed at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. As an instructor at Cal State Fullerton Dries teaches music theory, musicianship, analysis, counterpoint, jazz history and keyboard and individual composition lessons. Also a jazz pianist, he regularly performs throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.
