
Bongshin Ko

Praised by critics for her “mastery of the instrument” with “great warmth and beauty,” associate professor and cellist Bongshin Ko has appeared worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed and taught at music festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein, Kronberg, Rostropovich & Friends, Seoul International and American Cello Congress. A recipient of over 30 international prizes and awards she’s received the Dong-A Gold Award — Korea’s highest music honor. Her many solo engagements have included Munich Philharmonic Players, Vienna Sinfonietta, German Chamber Orchestra, Television-Radio Symphony of Moscow, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Korean Broadcasting Symphony (KBS), Zagreb Philharmonic and Central Broadcasting Symphony of China and has performed regularly on Sundays Live Concert Series (FM 105.1) in Los Angeles. She is also a guest professor at Kronberg Academy’s E. Feuermann Conservatory in Germany and continues to appear at summer festivals throughout the world. Ko currently teaches cello and leads the university’s Cello Choir.
