 John Steinmetz

John Steinmetz is principal bassoonist with the L.A. Opera. He has played on many movie soundtracks, such as Madame Butterfly and Matrix Revolutions. Steinmetz has made three tours of Spain with the Bill Douglas Trio. He premiered Donald Crockett’s Extant for bassoon and chamber ensemble with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and in 2004 he premiered his own Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra with the Santa Rosa Symphony. He currently teaches bassoon at Cal State Fullerton.
