Frederick Tinsley

Instructor in Music

Frederick Tinsley has been a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra since 1974. He began his professional music career with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and since has performed with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in music from the University of Connecticut, and has studied under Bertram Turetsky at Hartt College of Music in Bloomfield, Conn. Other former teachers include John Schaeffer of the New York Philharmonic and Bill Rhein of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1993, Tinsley received his Master of Music degree in performance from the University of Redlands. He is a member of Phi Kappa Lambda. In addition to his bent on classical music, Tinsley is a true jazz aficionado having performed with the several noted jazz musicians. Frederick Tinsley currently teaches double bass at Cal State Fullerton.
